Main Street Players Presents: The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson
A Bold, Hilarious Call to Action for Art, Feminism, and Resistance
Miami Lakes, FL – June 9, 2025 – Main Street Players proudly announces its summer production of Lauren Gunderson’s acclaimed comedy The Revolutionists, running from July 18 through August 3, 2025, at the Main Street Playhouse (6812 Main Street, Miami Lakes, FL).
Directed by Danny Nieves, this sharp, satirical, and fearless play brings together four revolutionary women—Olympe de Gouges, Charlotte Corday, Marie Antoinette, and Marianne Angelle—in a dreamlike retelling of the French Revolution that feels all too timely.
“This is a play about what it means to fight for your voice—whether with a pen, a blade, or a crown,” says director Danny Nieves. “And right now, with the arts under threat and cultural funding being slashed across the country, this play is more relevant than ever.”
🎭 About the Show
Four badass women lose their heads—literally and figuratively—in this hilarious and explosive comedy set during the Reign of Terror. As their fates collide, they debate politics, art, identity, and legacy in a battle cry for freedom and the enduring power of women’s voices.
Lauren Gunderson’s The Revolutionists is a love letter to feminism, storytelling, and resistance through creativity—reminding us that revolution doesn't always come with swords, but sometimes with scripts.

🌟 Why Now?
At a time when arts institutions are struggling, this production speaks directly to the moment: Why do we create when we are censored? Why do we speak when we are told to be silent? The Revolutionists answers with laughter, rage, and radical hope.
This summer, Main Street Players invites you to join the revolution.
